KCAD FLEX LAB RESIDENCY & EXHIBITON
This fall, we had the incredible opportunity to be artists-in-residence at Kendall College of Art and Design’s FlexLab space.
Throughout the semester, we transformed the space into a living exhibit, offering students and the public an inside look at what it takes to build a swimwear startup. Our showcase featured our mission statement, a detailed timeline of key milestones, five rounds of prototyping, visual content, and extensive research and development.
In collaboration with the FlexLab, we explored new design possibilities—prototyping inclusive-sized hangers using a laser cutter and partnering with Merrell designer Kiernan McKay to create a 3D-printed ice shoe.
We also hosted two public talks: one for aspiring fashion designers, sharing insights into the industry, and another offering a live tutorial on producing a commercial photoshoot. As Collection 01 was completed by our Los Angeles manufacturer, we documented the process in real time—shooting the final products on-site and opening the photoshoot to the public. The experience was a true reflection of our journey: building an exhibit while actively building our brand.
And of course, we wrapped it all up with our launch party—perfectly timed with the end of the semester and exhibit. Just as the show came to a close, our website finally went live, marking the beginning of Saint Andro’s next chapter.
Huge thank you to Michelle Bosak for making this happen!
